Dr Lucy Burns graduated from Medicine at Monash University in 1993 and completed general practice training in 1998. After watching the astronomical increase of obesity, diabetes and chronic disease, she changed her practice style and began to address the root cause of disease through lifestyle changes. She became a certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician and a clinical hypnotherapist. She sought-after public speaker and has spoken at multiple medical conferences on the management of obesity and weight loss. 

Lucy lives on the Mornington Peninsula with her husband and 2 teenage daughters.  They have a small acreage with 3 horses, a miniature cow, a goat, 3 dogs,4 cats, 4 ducks, 3 frogs, and a bearded dragon. Life is busy!

Lucy runs a successful weight loss clinic called Epiphany Medical Weight Loss and advises a low carb lifestyle. The clinic has become so busy that it’s time to expand into an online program. She along with her colleague Dr Mary Barson have formed a business called Real Life Medicine™ and are launching a program that addresses both the physiological and psychological causes of obesity.

Following the hormonal model for obesity, the program follows a low carbohydrate approach, addresses gut health and recommends intermittent fasting.  They implement positive psychology and hypnotherapy to promote behavioural change. Both Dr Lucy and Dr Mary draw upon their experience to address sugar and food addiction with a positive, compassion centred approach. Their patients are empowered and achieve long term sustainable change.
