I'm back! After a bit of a break with my interviews, I'm so pleased to be back and chatting with Brodie.

Today Brodie shared her story, what has changed for her with over 25 years experience as an exercise physiologist, her defining moment for change, what she sees in her practice, how diet affects brain health, the CAC scan, heart attacks, insulin resistance and more!

About Brodie:
Brodie is also the founder and co-ordinator of the Shoalhaven Allied Health Network and is passionate about the health and wellbeing of her fellow health workers.
Brodie has an interest in educating health workers about recognising the signs and symptoms of Compassion Fatigue so as to help our frontline workers in the health system maintain their own health also.

Brodie became interested in brain development and brain health after working with people and families who may be experiencing depression. Her programs now extend into stroke rehabilitation, programs for Parkinson' Disease and other neurological conditions.
Brodie is an Accredited Stand Up Paddle Board Instructor and has competed numerous courses on back care, posture and exercise for improved lung function.

The unique component of BrainFit programs is that BrainFit programs use the Fiteracy Framweork to to provide low anxiety learning environments for participants.

Reducing anxiety during initial consults increases engagement in health information with BrainFit participants being encouraged to participate in the development of their own health plan and reduction in clinical tests during an initial consult.

She has developed and applied the Fiteracy teaching method to develop exercise programs for people experiencing PTSD, depression, anxiety and social isolation.

More recently Brodie has been involved in ultra marathon kayak paddling and has completed 1000km of paddle racing through out Australia in 2018. Brodie has been using her paddling pursuits to demonstrate the effect of a reduced carbohydrate diet on endurance physical performance.

Brodie is passionate about providing participants with the latest evidence based guidelines on the most appropriate fuels for exercising and works in the areas pre-diabetes, weight management and exercise program development for people who have chronic injuries.

Brodie provides exercise guidelines for those experiencing injury who may not be able to complete long bouts of exercise for weight management.

Brodie works alongside Accredited Practicing Dietitians to help create a combined exercise and diet plan using evidence based research in the area of reducing carbohydrate consumption prior to exercising.
